Powdered uranium oxide (U₃O₈) with a bright yellow color. Another name for yellow cake is urania. Yellowcake is produced during the processing of uranium ore and is an intermediate step in the production of nuclear fuel. In most cases, yellow cake is further converted to gaseous uranium hexafluoride, which is suitable for the enrichment process.
