Accumulation hydroelectric power plant

A type of hydroelectric power plant that uses the energy of water stored in a dam to generate electricity. Accumulation power plants usually only generate power during periods of peak demand. How often and for how long they generate electricity depends on the amount of water accumulated in the reservoir and the total flow rate. They can also serve as drinking water storage and help regulate river flow during floods.
