Geothermal energy

Energy originating from the Earth’s interior that can be used for heating or generating electricity. The Earth has at its core temperatures of over 5,000 °C and is constantly being heated by the decay of radioactive elements. When this heat gets close to the surface, it can be harnessed for energy, for example by geothermal power plants.
