Russian modification of a PWR-type reactor. The abbreviation means water-water energetic reactor. It is a light-water cooled and moderated reactor, using enriched uranium as a fuel in hexagonal fuel assemblies. The water in the reactor operates at 15 MPa pressure and a temperature of 300 °C. This is a double-circuit power plant.
