Flywheel generator

A device that is capable of storing energy by spinning a flywheel, and then releasing it by braking it. It can be used to store energy from renewable sources (e.g. solar) or to quickly release large amounts of energy that the grid cannot supply. A typical use of a flywheel generator is in the start-up of a tokamak, which requires large amounts of energy for the magnetic coils and the induction of an electric current.
