Unit of magnetic flux density named after the inventor Nikola Tesla. It is used to express magnetic field strength. If a particle with a charge of 1 coulomb moves through a magnetic field of 1 tesla at a speed of one metre per second, the magnetic field will exert a force of one newton on it. A fridge magnet has an intensity of approximately 0.001 tesla.
