Horizontal axis turbine

Most common type of wind turbine with a horizontal axis and usually three blades working on the lift principle. A nacelle with a rotor, gearbox, generator, and anemometer is placed on the column over 100 meters high and is rotating in the direction of the wind. The blades are made of fiberglass or carbon fibre. They are over 100 meters long on the latest turbines. Horizontal axis turbines are built in large on-shore and off-shore wind farms.
