Wave power plant

Principle of operation of a wave power plant.

A power plant built in an area with intense wave action that harnesses wave energy to generate electricity. There are several types of wave power plants. The offshore anchored type consists of several floating blocks connected by joints whose bending is converted into mechanical energy. The second type is an onshore structure. Waves enter the inner chamber. As the water level rises in the chamber, it compresses the air and drives it through the turbine. When the water level drops, air is drawn in through the turbine. The special design of the turbine ensures that it rotates in the same direction regardless of the airflow.
