Solar radiation

Electromagnetic radiation emitted by Sun. The Sun emits waves across the spectrum, from X-rays to radio waves. Each day, it radiates 3.94 × 1023 kW of energy into space, only a tiny fraction of which reaches the Earth’s surface. As it passes through the atmosphere, some of the radiation is absorbed, so that the visible part and some of the ultraviolet and infrared radiation reach the Earth’s surface.
