Stirling engine

Animation of the Stirling engine principle. In one part the gas is heated, expanded and moves the piston, while in the other part, the gas is cooled and compressed. The alternating motion of the pistons is converted into mechanical work. (Source: Wikipedia.org)

Heat engine, which converts thermal energy into mechanical energy by expanding and compressing the working gas at different temperatures. The working gas is enclosed in a Stirling engine. In one part it is heated by heat supplied from the outside and expands while doing work, in the other it is cooled. Stirling engines are quiet and have no exhaust emissions. They are used, for example, in parabolic dish solar collectors.
