Pyrolysis

A process in which the chemical decomposition of organic components occurs under the influence of heat and in the absence of oxygen. The fuel can be wood, coal or dry biomass. Pyrolysis produces charcoal called biochar, syngas and pyrolytic oil, which can be used to produce biofuels.
