Deferred dismantling
Deferred dismantling is a strategy in which a facility is maintained in a safe storage condition for an extended period before dismantling begins. The delay allows radioactive decay to reduce radiation levels and potentially simplify later work. This strategy is often referred to as SAFSTOR or safe enclosure.
