Immediate dismantling

Immediate dismantling is a decommissioning strategy in which dismantling activities begin soon after permanent shutdown of a facility. Radioactive systems and structures are removed without long delays while operational knowledge and infrastructure are still available. This approach is also known as DECON in some countries.
